4 Toddler Crafts You Can Work on for the Ultimate Bonding Time

Parents like us constantly look for ways to keep our toddlers occupied. With plenty of time to spare, our kids can surely get more creative all year round. It’s also a great way for the whole family to have genuine fun and arouse the interest of these young ones. Here are some ideas to check out.

Hand Color Chart

This activity is an effective method of teaching your tots about the color wheel. Follow these easy steps in making the finger paint mixture:

  • Combine corn starch with one cup of cold water.
  • Pour four cups of boiling water to your original blend. The number of cups can also depend on the needed consistency.
  • You may add more corn starch or water until you come up with a thick and sticky substance.
  • Add the colors.
  • Purchase non-toxic finger or poster paints. Allow the kids to make the hand prints and identify the different colors.

Souvenir Bowl

This bowl can become a keepsake showcasing your family’s pleasant summer memories.

  • Use the one-inch circle craft puncher to produce at least 60 paper circles using colored paper as well as printed material from magazines, brochures, tickets, and pictures.
  • Cover a cereal bowl with plastic wrap. The covering should be very smooth.
  • Put the bowl upside down on top of wax paper.
  • Brush a part of the wrapped bowl with an all-in-one sealer glue/finish used in producing decoupage artwork.
  • Start adding the circles on top of each other so there won’t be any spaces.
  • Allow the bowl to dry completely.
  • Remove the paper mold or cast from the original bowl.
  • Peel off the plastic gently.
  • You may coat the inner portion with acrylic paint.

Explorer’s Backpack

The mesh bag will come in handy for toddler treasure collectors. It leaves behind unwanted dirt, sand, water, and other particles.

  • Fold outward the upper two inches of plastic produce or vegetable bags.
  • Cover the flap with duct tape. Open the bag so the tape remains inside.
  • Create a handle made of duct tape. Crease 14-inches of the tape in ½ lengthwise.
  • Fasten the edges of the handle to the tape on your veggie bag.
  • Cover with another layer of duct tape squeezing the handle in the middle.
  • Cover any holes in the bag using the same tape.

Adventure Calendar & Album

This calendar will serve both as a planner and scrapbook or photo album.

  • Print the numbers of the summer months and days on card stock loops.
  • Start with the day school closes and summer vacation begins.
  • Conclude with the first school day in autumn.
  • Paste the circles on clothespins. Fasten the pins on durable thread or fiber attached to the wall.
  • Cut off items that go with your summer plans like going to the museum or park.
  • Collect souvenirs as well such as leaves or feathers from a hike in the woods or any interesting artifact.

Of course, there are hundreds of other recommended crafts that your children can indulge in. Make sure you guide them in this exciting endeavor.
